About this advanced Tunisian crochet pattern roundup

Once you’ve tried the simple or beginner-friendly patterns in Tunisian crochet, it’s time to expand your skill set and try some more advanced Tunisian crochet patterns.

Below you will find a collection of intermediate and advanced Tunisian crochet patterns, divided into categories or types of items.

All the designers of these patterns have given their permission for me to share their photos in this collection of patterns.

Based on how big and complex the projects are, you have:

  • blanket squares;
  • head and neck accessories, including scarves and cowls;
  • hand and feet accessories;
  • shawls;
  • garments;

Each of these patterns features either stitch patterns, construction methods, colorwork or general complexity, which makes them great for intermediate and advanced crocheters.

If you feel like these patterns are too complex for you, try out some easier patterns first.

In the description of each pattern I have provided some details regarding the skills needed to make them, the designer and whether the pattern is free or paid or both.

  1. Hi Andy,

    I have been looking for a Mobius Tunisian Crochet in the round scarf/ shawl pattern that uses a reversible stitch that more or less mimics one another on both sides of the middle ridge in a true Mobius construction. In my case, I twist the chain rather than the first row, as it looks neater. I have not used the Tunisian reverse stitch to test how well the both sides mimic one another. I also use a crochet hook with a long cable (Tulip brand) for doing Tunisian Crochet in the round. Was wondering if you would create a Mobius pattern. Thank you and sharing your beautiful designs.

    • Hi Liana! I haven’t thought about a Möbius type scarf, but I have thought about a completely reversible stitch pattern with a regular hook, which would work for this.

      Trs is the reverse of Tps, so you need a different kind of reverse stitch to make the opposite of Tss, if that’s what you’re going for. I’m planning a video about this.

      With a double ended hook you can just make one full row in Tss, cast off with the other end of the hook, then turn the work and make a full row with the second end of the hook and return pass with the first.

      You’d need to join the beginning to the end of the row, but you can use the method where you make a slip stitch into the first loop instead of making a regular last stitch.

      Hope this helps. If I ever design a Möbius scarf, you’ll find out from the email updates.
