About the Macaw wings shawl TCAL
This Tunisian crochet shawl TCAL is an online event that will last between January 20th 2023 and March 24th 2023 and involves weekly releases of blog posts with parts of the pattern.
You can read more about the event here and how to participate.
Make sure you read the observations on that page and keep some stitch markers handy.
This blog post is about section 7 of the shawl, with full instructions and a chart that you can print and check while working from the instructions.
If you want to make the shawl longer and a little wider, check out this modified section 7, where you have a total of 7 feathers instead of 3.

Middle of the shawl
If using the advent calendar, count the number of rows worked in the last color or weigh the remaining yarn from the last color. If using gradient cakes, weigh the remaining yarn in the first cake.
If using the advent calendar, use the same color (second skein) to make the same number of rows as with the first skein or until you use up the same amount of yarn, then switch to the next color in sequence.
If using gradient cakes, remove the measured weight from the second half of yarn (second cake) and start from there.
Here’s a video that shows you how to switch to the second cake of yarn.
For example, when using the advent pack for making the sample, the last color (C12) took up 5 full rows or 10 g.
For the second half of the shawl, 5 rows were made in the same color (C12) and the following rows were worked with C11 until it ran out, then C10 and so on.
